Marathon Aginst HIV /AIDS

Objectives:

For massive scale awareness on HIV/AIDS.
To involve people in the campaign against HIV/AIDS.
To end the panic about AIDS in peoples mind and make them aware

Methods/Strategies: Competition in 6 different Groups i.e. (Junior & Senior KG, 1-4th, 5-7th, 8-10th, Open Group & Senior Citizens). Participation of local NGO’s, CBO’s, clubs, societies. Wholehearted support from BMC officials, police officers, RTO department & Civil Defence Volunteers. Local contribution and resources mobilized by the local organiser.

Area of operation: Mumbai

Outcome:

12 Marathon competitions were held at Mulund (E), Mulund (W), Bhandup, Kanjurmarg, Vikhroli Parkside, Bhattwadi, Ghatkopar, Kurla Pipeline, Kurla, Sunderbaug, Ramabainagar, Chembur, Deonar, Trombay.
 
15,192 students and people participated.
489 Schools, Mandals, Colleges & CBO’s were involved.
800 Volunteers worked for the event.
5 Lac General Population Covered.

Methods/Strategies:

Mass awareness - Banners, Hoardings, Pamphlets distribution.
Meetings with different target groups.
Street Plays at prominent places at rush hours.

Main Outcome:

Evaluation Methods and Results:

Feedback Sheets, Discussions & Interaction/Listening to people shows that the campaign is becoming successful because of involvement of the people. Not only this, the programmes arranged at the door-step helped to get good response.
