| Investor's Grievances Forum

Introduction

Investors’ Grievances Forum (IGF) is a Non - Govternment Organization based at Mumbai, established in the year 1994, under the leadership and guidance of Shri Kirit Somaiya. It is an association of professionals with a social objective dedicated to the protection and safeguarding of the rights of investors through education, awareness, guidance, mass campaigns and representations to regulators, govt. authorities and courts.

IGF is registered as a society under the Societies Registration Act, as a Trust under the Bombay Public Trust Act and as an Investor Association with the SEBI.

It was only with the concerted efforts of this forum that the first ever Investor Protection Act came into being in Maharashtra in the year 1999 which subsequently was adopted by many other states in India. In the last one decade the number of investors have grown from a mere 30 lakhs to around 6.30 crores, the fact of the matter being that the system to educate investors has not developed proportionately and with regulatory authorities not being too vigilant of their duties.

IGF is committed to enhance the awareness among investors to keep them well informed and educate them on their rights and duties enriching their knowledge as to understanding of market mechanism.

IGF strives to achieve its goals by conducting various seminars, budget meetings and Investor Melas alongwith issue of a monthly magazine called Alert Investor containing information of immense use to the investors.
