25,000 individual letters to the Chief Justice of Mumbai High Court along with Mulund-Bhandup load shedding Petition were filed by Dr. Kirit Somaiya, ex Member of Parliament today at Mumbai High Court.  The Petition says Mulund-Bhandup is part of Mumbai but is facing daily 3 to 5 hours load shedding.  Why this discrimination?  10 lakh citizens of Mulund-Bhandup are paying the same taxes and should have additional power supply from Govt. of India and Govt. of Maharashtra.  In spite of announcement and commitment by the Union Power Ministry and Maharashtra Govt. that additional power shall be made available for the whole of Mumbai, power supply companies are getting additional power to avoid load shedding in whole of Mumbai except Mulund and Bhandup.

Along with Dr. Kirit Somaiya, Petitioners include Sardar Tara Singh, MLA, 3 Municipal Corporators, Shri P.S. Pandey and others.

185-page Petition is supported by various correspondence, commitment, orders.  Petition also has annexure containing Govt. of India decision of 2006 giving instruction to NTPC to make available additional power to Mumbai  power supply companies to avoid the load shedding.

It may be noted here that Govt. of India has made available 200 MW additional power and, if required, more also.  Electric supply companies such as Tata Power, Reliance and the BEST are making all efforts and getting additional power.  90% of Mumbai is using additional power and there is no load shedding.  Dr. Kirit Somaiya and BJP for the last 24 months have made all efforts and approached Govt. of India, Govt. of Maharashtra, MERC, MSEDCL and others to stop injustice to Mulund and Bhandup.  No cognizance has been taken till now.  The gap of demand-supply for Mulund-Bhandup is around 30 MW.  This could have been sorted out easily.

Dhruve Liladhar &Co., Solicitors, have filed this Petition on behalf of Dr. Kirit Somaiya and25,000 individuals.
