Deposing before the Human Rights Commission in Mumbai, Railway Authorities stated that 4 bodies have not yet been intensified.

The bench of Justice Mr. Kshitij Vyas and Justice Mr. Subhash Lala initiated hearings of the Human Rights Commission today in response to the plea filed by senior BJP leader, Dr. Kirit Somaiya, for rehabilitation of the 26/11 terror attack victims.

22 security personnel and 166 innocent people died in the terror attack on Mumbai while 311 were injured.

Dr. Somaiya pointed out that in spite of 3 months having passed since the attack, the victims’ families have not yet received the Rs.2 lac help announced by the Prime Minister or the Rs.3 lac announced by the Home Ministry.  The Centre has stated that, as Maharashtra Govt. has not submitted the names of the deceased, the help has not been disbursed.

Dr. Somaiya pointed out that some victims still have bullets in their bodies and the Government has not made adequate arrangements to get them operated.  He added that the State Government and Railways are passing the buck to each other.

Dr. Somaiya alleged that the Government has not withdrawn the G.R. of Rs.13 lacs from the Rs.25 lacs announced for the deceased by the State Government.  He said that this is a case of one hand offering the help and the other hand taking it away.

The Commission then ordered the State Government to file its reply.
