Mumbai Paid Rs.93,170 Crores Taxes to Govt of India in 2006/07

Mumbaikar has paid Rs. 93,170 crore taxes to Govt. of India for the year 2006-2007. It will cross Rs. 1 lac crores during 2007-2008, informed BJP Leader, Ex Member of Parliament Dr. kirit Somaiya. It is almost doubled in last two years. In 2004-2005 Mumbaikars contributed Rs. 50,979 crores. These include Income Tax, Corporate Tax, Excise, Service Tax & other taxes.

Service tax collection is trippled in two years from Rs.3979 Crores to Rs. 12,137 crores.

Surprisingly instead of increasing contribution, grant for Mumbai the Govt. of India has not sent “Single Paisa” for Mumbai in last two years. Is this not exploitation of Mumbai? asked Dr. Kirit Somaiya. BJP questioned the Congress Leaders what are they doing? Now both at Center & State it is Congress Govt’s ?
