288 Assembly segments have received 25,13,607 applications (Form No.6) for new voter enrolment from all over Maharashtra. More than 200 Assembly constituencies have received 2000 to 6000 applications.  At the same time, around 20 Assembly segments in Maharashtra have received abnormal applications for new voter enrolment, charged BJP leader, Dr. Kirit Somaiya. 

It is shocking that, in Pune Dist., while Maval (Talegaon) Vidhan Sabha has received 4362 applications, the adjacent Chinchwad Assembly has received 38,089 applications and Pimpri has received 54,561 applications. 

In Thane Dist. New Assembly constituencies, Airoli received 42,768 and Belapur 34,003 applications.   

In Mumbai, 3 Assembly segments have received more than 16,000 applications each, i.e. 200% of the average of Maharashtra.  All are Bangladeshi bases : 

BJP has made representation to the Election Commission of India and also Chief Election Officer, Maharashtra.  This is nothing but rigging the election.  Massive bogus enrolment, bogus and forged residential proof, bogus attestation are common features in these massive applications. 

Dr. Somaiya has questioned the Election Commission that while the adjacent Andheri East Assembly has received only 4,057 new applications (Form No.6), how Chandivali can receive 34,257? In Mankhurd Vidhan Sabha, till the end of the 2^nd last day, i.e. 23^rd August, election office received 5225 applications.  At the end of the last day, i.e. 24^th August, election office intimated that in all 19,105 applications have been received.  How in a single day 14,000 applications could be received, questioned BJP.    

In whole of Raigad Dist. 82,822 forms have been received for 7 Assembly segments, of which Panvel Vidhan Sabha alone account for 34,399 applications.

BJP has charged that this is a “design” for rigging in a unique way by using Government administration.  It is understood that, in many places, forms have been accepted in thousands without proper checking, verification.  Now local administration has been pressurized to accept and enroll and register them as voters.   

Dr. Kirit Somaiya demanded that senior officer be deputed for such Assembly segments, all Form No.6 be thoroughly checked, verified, attestation verified by visiting houses of the applicants and checking the original documents.  Election Commission should take necessary steps to remove all bogus applications and have healthy electoral rolls.
