Second
“Varsh Shraaddh” Puja were offered to 450
dead of 26th July at Mithi
River Bank today. BJP leader, Dr. Kirit
Somaiya – Ex MP, organized “Mithi Yagna”,
performed puja and offered Aahuti for the
early completion of Mithi Rejuvenation
Project. Mithi River residents of Kranti
Nagar, Bail Bazar, BJP Councillors Sitaram
Tiwari, Bhalchandra Shirsat, local
residents’ office bearers, Veerendra Dubey,
also joined in this “saamuhik
shraddhanjali” and Puja vidhi.
Mithi
residents urged the Government authorities
how many lives are to be sacrificed at
Mithi River every year. It may be
recalled that this year on 30th
June 2007 also 5 people lost their lives
in Mithi in the rains.
24 months
are over to 26th July. No
lesson learnt. Every year water logging,
flooding is taking human life and damages
of Rs.1,000 crores. Just like in the
past, all the reports of Chitale
Committee, Fact Finding Committee, CWPRS,
IIT and the CAG are gathering dust.
Lack of
political will and commitment will result
in another disaster, warned BJP leader,
Dr. Kirit Somaiya – Ex Member of
Parliament. Only Rs.65 crores have been
spent on Mumbai in the last 2 years out of
Rs.1,369 crores on Mithi Rejuvenation
Scheme. Not a single paise is spent on
strengthening and improving the capacity
of Oshiwara, Dahisar & Poisar Rivers and
BRIMSTOWAD Report.
Dr. Somaiya
appealed to both the Congress Governments
at the Centre and the State to declare and
execute time-bound action plan to clean up
Mithi, Oshiwara, Dahisar and Poisar rivers
and strengthening the sewage system, storm
water system of Mumbai.
Dr. Somaiya
once again reiterated the step-motherly
treatment given to Mumbai. Not a single
paise is contributed or spent for Mumbai
since 26th July 2005. Against
this, the city contributed Rs.2,13,000
crores as taxes to Government of India
during the same period.
